2005 – The Sawyer Family: Year in Review!
Looking back at 2005, it is hard to remember exactly all that we have done because there was SO MUCH! To top all our activities, Sarah was pregnant for about 8 of those months which you all know was hard on all of us.
Sarah had her hands full during her pregnancy during the first half of the year. She was lucky enough to be one of the very small percentage of women that suffer from 9 months of morning sickness. Sarah was a tough woman through the whole experience. It was certainly tough on Hank watching her go through it without being able to help her. The experience was worth it because we ended up with a gorgeous baby girl.
Sarah and Hank went on their official honeymoon trip to Maui, Hawaii in March, compliments of Rob and Mom. It was absolutely fantastic! We spent 7 days on Kanapali Beach at the Marriot resort where we spent most of our time in the water. The pool and beach area was beautiful. We ate delicious meals at nearby restaurants, went snorkeling, diving off a small lava cliff, shopping, swimming, reading, and simply enjoyed spending quality time having fun with each other. Our tans were nice and dark when it was time to come home.
On June 2, we were blessed with Gabriella Skye (Gabi). She was 6lbs 3oz and about 19 inches long. Sarah’s water broke at 1:20am and Gabi was born at 2:50pm. Labor wasn’t too bad for Sarah and the delivery was within about 10 minutes after Gabi began to crown. Sarah’s parents, Hank’s mom and our friend Marshall were there to provide support. We appreciate all of their help!
Hank had a full year with a computer forensic class/certification in February and a new job at the University of Florida on the UF Security Team in August. He gave a presentation on computer incident response at the FAEDS annual conference in September. In October and November, Hank DJed for a haunted house and his brother Kyle’s 16th birthday party. In addition to spending as much time as he can with Sarah and Gabi, he wrote 7 product reviews for Network Computing and Security Enterprise magazines.
As you probably already know, Sarah and Hank don’t spend much time at home. Most weekends are spent traveling to visit family throughout Florida. In July, we spent several days at the Marriot resort in Orlando soaking up sun and taking care of our new daughter while visiting with family. September found us in Hilton Head for Labor Day. We stayed with Ray and Margaret in their cute house and spent the days at the Marriot chilling next to the pool with the family. Sarah’s Mary Kay business took us to Greenville, NC in October where we stayed downtown in the beautiful Westin Poinsett hotel. Sarah’s time was spent in training and Hank spent his days walking the downtown area with Gabi in the Baby Bjorn.
December finds us visiting family every weekend in Florida and Georgia. Gabi is doing great at 25in and 16lbs. Click here for some new pics. She has been learning more about her voice and hands. Her favorite show is the Backyardigans and she is sitting up all by herself. Sarah is pregnant with Gabi’s baby brother or sister(NO, we are not going to find out the sex…we love surprises), and, unfortunately, feeling just as bad as she did with Gabi. Even with the tough pregnancy, she is hitting tons of goals and earning many rewards with Mary Kay. Hank is loving his new job, writing more magazine articles and playing every week in a softball league.
We thank all of you for your friendship and appreciate all you have done for us. Sarah, Hank and Gabi are looking forward to experiencing the birth of their newest family member in mid-2006.
With much love and many hugs,
Sarah, Hank & Gabi
